Two-Car Crash on the 101 Freeway

At least two people were injured in a crash that happened on the 101 Freeway on Tuesday night. The wreck happened near Los Alamos, around 7:30 p.m. A Saturn sedan was headed southbound on the freeway, and crossed the center median for unknown reasons. The Saturn struck a northbound Toyota Camry head on.

According to KEYT News Channel Three, the driver of the Saturn turned the car to the right at the last minute, which California Highway Patrol officers speculate may have lessened the extent of the injuries and damage. The roadway had to be shut down for emergency responders and investigators. One driver was taken to the Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria. The other driver was airlifted to Cottage Hospital with major injuries. No information has been released about their current conditions. Additionally, there has been no word on why the driver of the Saturn crossed the center median.
